The tuner doesn't detect my instrument. What should I do?

Make sure Tempi has microphone permission in your device settings (Settings → Tempi → Microphone). Play a single, sustained note clearly and wait a moment. The tuner works best in a quiet environment. Full pitch detection is available on all platforms.

The metronome click is not in sync with my playing.

Tempi uses a drift-corrected scheduler for precise timing. If you notice drift, try closing other apps running in the background. For very low latency, use wired headphones or a Bluetooth audio device with low latency mode.

How do I use Tap Tempo?

Tap the TAP button at least 3 times in rhythm — Tempi calculates the average BPM from your last 8 taps and sets it automatically.

How do I save and use presets?

Tap the LIST button in the metronome. You can save your current BPM, time signature, sound, and subdivision as a named preset. Enable Setlist mode to step through presets automatically during a performance.

Does Tempi record or store my microphone audio?

No. The microphone is used only for real-time pitch detection. No audio is ever recorded, stored, or transmitted. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What reference pitch does the tuner use?

By default A4 = 440 Hz. You can change this in the tuner settings — useful for baroque tuning (415 Hz), orchestra tuning (442–444 Hz), or other non-standard references.

Is Tempi free?

Yes, Tempi is free to download and use with all core features included.
